History Group
The Lilydale History Group held its 2003 Annual General meeting at the Old Courtroom on Friday August 15th . Office bearers elected for the coming year are:
Vice President Jack Wilson, Secretary Helen Chick, Treasurer Jessie Brown.
We have 3 new members and we welcome them to our group. The History panel is still being looked at and we hope to have it finished soon so it can go on display at the Village Green. Our meetings are held on the third Friday of the month at the Old Courtroom and a warm welcome will be extended to all who wish to join us. For more information please contact Helen on 6395 2060.
CWA Notes
The days are lengthening very noticeably, some rather heavy frosts around, but no one minds when there is a nice sunny day to follow, and a bit of warmth creeping into the sunshine. In August, we started in the morning to complete tiny little mice, very fiddly but oh so cute, and much, much nicer than the larger grey variety. In a few months they will have new homes around the world, they will be distributed at the World Conference in Hobart in March. State Conference will be in Launceston the first week of September, this clashes with our usual meeting date so we will not be meeting until October 1st. Items for the Samaritans Christmas boxes are being collected (each box contains 6 items - something to wear, something to eat, an item of personal hygiene, something to play with plus drawing/writing materials and something to love) and boxes covered. Baby box has also received several garments. Some quotes: · Never let yesterday use up too much of today. · A pessimist is sone who looks at the land of milk and honey and sees only calories and cholesterol. · God wisely designed the human body so we can neither pat our own backs, nor kick ourselves too easily. "See" you next month Dorothy Story
