Letter to the Editor

We moved 'up the hill' to Lilydale to enjoy the tranquil surroundings and the cleaner air around six months ago. Yes, it is 'one blanket colder'!
We are surprised to see the number of community groups serving Lilydale, and have already become
involved in some of them. However, we are somewhat surprised to see the lack of interest by the majority of the community - it appears that the same people are endeavouring to keep the numerous groups going.
For the sake of a few hours a month, new ideas and
support can really get the district moving.  How do you expect to get support from State and Local
governments if you don't give your own support first? We are currently trying to rid an area of Rocky creek from gorse and crack willow, and are prepared to do our bit.
By the way, would the person who keeps taking our flower from our front gate give a thought to our little dog who was killed the first week we arrived. We like to keep her memory alive.

Tasmanian Regional Arts:

We were pleased to respond to the School request for assistance with the Outdoor Café Project.

We have been successful in a submission to fund an Artist to assist the Students to design and create the artwork for the Project.  This is an exciting project
being undertaken by students in the Year 5 to 8 range, which will create an attractive outdoor shaded area for the Students at LDS.

CWA Notes
(CWA=Chicks with Attitude - NOT
chinwaggers association as you all thought).

Hello again, another month gone, spring well under way- to me it seems like an old fashioned season, when spring meant lots of wind, and all four seasons in the one day.  Regardless of all this, a beautiful season.

No meeting for our CWA in September, so no report from that, so I'm presenting a piece of history.

About 39 years ago, we had Spring Flower Shows in the Memorial Hall; the schedule I unearthed was for Saturday, September 20th 1975 (We think the shows continued for about five years).  Admission was 30c
