Lilydale Landcare Association
It has been a particularly busy month for our members this month. On the 18th of October the group conducted a botanical drawing workshop led by the very talented artist, Stephanie Dean. The day was thoroughly enjoyed by both children and adults, and the sketches and paintings produced were most impressive.
In addition to regular working bees at Merthyr Park, we have started a gorse eradication program, in conjunction with Greening Australia, along the banks of Rocky Creek. This will be an ongoing project and any help from community members would be greatly appreciated.
We have had the help of a team from Conservation Volunteers Australia recently at Merthyr Park. They did a great job weeding, planting and mulching. If you haven't been up to the park lately, take a walk and see the progress that has been made there.
The landcare group have also donated 85 Diplarrena moroea and Stylidium graminifolium to the Village Green. These plants have been grown from local seed by enthusiastic volunteers and planted in the two front beds. If anyone passing thinks they need watering, please do so!!
DATES TO REMEMBER: Saturdays - 8th and 22nd November, working bees at Merthyr Park, 9.30 am onwards Sunday - 14th December, Christmas get together at Rhododendron Park, Lalla. BYO barbecue or picnic lunch, from 12 o'clock.
