Tasmanian Regional Arts News

Once again we celebrated the Winter Solstice with a colourful Lantern Parade, followed by singing around the fire drums.  As always the hot Milo with
marshmallows proved to be very popular, and not only with the children!  (Did you know that you can float 3 marshmallows on one mug of Milo?)

The street decorations added a festive touch, especially the large lanterns on the Village Green.  It was good to see some new faces (not that we do not appreciate our regulars!), people who just moved into the area and visitors from outside the district.

Sincere thanks go to all our helpers;  the Lions Club for organising the fire drums, Judy Arnold for leading the singing, the Lilydale Fire Brigade for lighting up the School oval, Stephen Griffin for risking life and limb to put in two light bulbs, Graeme Arnold for supplying the firewood and of course the Tasmanian Regional Arts Members.

Our next event will be the Harp concert with Christina Sonnemann, at the Mount Arthur Centre, White's Mill Road, on Sunday July 13th, starting at 2.30 p.m.  Cost is $12.00 per person, which includes afternoon tea.

Don't forget to get ready for the Mountain of Talent Art Exhibition, scheduled for the first weekend in
October.

If you have special talents or experience in staging an exhibition and would be willing to help, we would love to hear from you.
