Lilydale CWA Notes

Welcome to 2004 - may it be good for all - best of health, much happiness, many laughs.

January was our month off, lovely to have a break to recuperate, but equally good to meet up again on
February 4th at 10.30 am, gathering at Margaret
Hanstein's to catch up, luncheon to share, meeting
afterwards.

Our Christmas function was lunch at Rosevears Tavern and a mini-tour around part of the West Tamar area, finishing with a visit to Lavender House at Rowella.

Lunchtime became a huge surprise for our treasurer of many years, Eileen Brooks, who was made a Branch Member of Honour.  A title not lightly bestowed - but still overdue- when one considers Eileen is our most senior member in the 'pecking order' with 43 years membership, most of which have seen her as treasurer of branch, and in previous years, the Opportunity Shop and Craft Shop, as well as being a willing participant in any venture we have undertaken.  Her craft work is first class and always beautifully finished and presented.   The honour was well deserved.  The following little 'ode' accompanied the certificate.

"Ode to Eileen"
The three girls were lean, Pauline, Marlene, Eileen
Without any fuss, Eileen was one of us at Lilydale CWA

A member for ever, Eileen would never let us down.
With nay a frown, she gives her best, Reliable and
honest.

With a smile, Eileen goes the second mile
She sews, knits and cooks (but NEVER our books)

Eileen our treasurer, is CWA's treasure
Congratulations E.J.B,
Its great you should be, the new
Member of Honour.

seriously considered as a means of communication. The device is inherently of no value to us."
