community service project.  An extra bonus for our landcare project is that Ian's Dad, Richard works with us as well.
We are having a well deserved treat on Sunday 8th
December.  Our end of year celebration will be held at the delightful Habitat Nursery at Liffey.  This will be your opportunity to meet the inspiring Herbert and Sally Staubman and see a range of Tasmanian Native plants in their natural environment.   Meet at the
Lilydale swimming pool at 11.00 a.m as we plan to car pool.  Bring your own picnic lunch.  Please phone 6395 44 93 if you would like to join us for this special outing.

Village Green
Thanks to better weather conditions, we are now
making steady progress on all aspects of the site and although we obviously will not have the whole project completed by Christmas, we will hopefully have most of the site in a useable condition by then.

At the time of submitting this report, we have a
working bee planned for Saturday 23rd. November, at which we hope to go close to finishing the two front gardens and start installing some of the central feature items.  We will then have to finish the paths, so that people can move about freely.

Progress on the shelter has been held up by a long
delay in having some of the steel components
galvanised.  Apparently, there are only two galvanising businesses in the State and they only carry out the process when they have a full load.  As soon as these components become available, the remainder of the posts can be erected & work can then be started on the roof structure.

Regardless of the above, we are determined to have the site at least in a clean, tidy & safe condition by
mid-December.  We are also trying to secure a fair size portable Christmas Tree which we plan to position between the notice board structure and the Takeaway wall.   We can then install some lights and have the area ready for the proposed Christmas evening on
Sunday 22nd. December.  We hope to see a very large attendance for the first of hopefully many similar type functions in the future.

Finally, let me again express my sincere thanks to those of you who have given your time and expertise to
enable us to get this far.  We will probably only have two more working bee chances before Christmas and I know I can look forward to your continuing support & assistance.  If I do not have the opportunity of seeing you personally, may I take this opportunity of wishing you all a very happy & enjoyable Christmas and a safe, healthy and prosperous New Year.
