Progress Report on the Traffic Calming Works

Venarchi Contracting is the contractor appointed by Launceston City Council to upgrade the Main Street of Lilydale.  Brian Cawthen is their Project Manager.
Darren Bracy is their on-site supervisor.

The work around Doaks Road is almost finished,
asphalting and linemarking is all that is left to do.    Most of the pedestrian crossings have been installed and most of the kerb and channel work is well
underway.

Over the next couple of weeks, work will start on the footpaths and kerb & channel at Lalla Road junction.

Working hours
7.30 am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
There may be some Saturday work.

Lions Club News

On Saturday 6th December, from 9 a.m. we will be holding our Annual Cake Drive in and around Lilydale with the help of the Lilydale Fire Brigade.  Santa Claus will be helping and will probably have some sweet treats for the 'younger' children.

We would like to acknowledge the help of the Fire Brigade - we couldn't do it without you.  Please buy a cake to support our activities.
Cakes are $11 each.

Some of our Members attended the State Conference at Bridport in November.  President Ron Reid initiated a motion calling on the State Government to fund
research into the current plight of Tasmanian Devils (the native animal not the football team).

Don't forget our Annual Dog's Day Out - Sunday 21st March 2004.  Has your dog got what it takes to win an event, e.g. best dressed dog, fastest Goodo eater,
obstacles race etc.

Decorate a cylinder for the Green
Here are some ideas for you to decorate your cylinder.
How about some

  • Cut outs from Christmas wrapping paper
  • Cottonwool balls, pipe cleaners etc
  • Paint it with stripes and turn into a giant candy   cane?
  • Scenes from Christmas carols
  • Foliage to turn into a Living Christmas Cylinder
  • Cartoons
Call Jillian Weston on 63 95 1062 to collect a cylinder to decorate.
