Mary Walsh Centre

This month has certainly been cold, more so than in the previous years. Those of us who are in the older age group find it hard to take, but are thankful that we have the means to keep out the cold winds and frosts which come our way.

Our days at the Day Centre, together with others, are a real boon. We do need the company of others around us sometimes, for when we are alone and housebound in the wintertime we get sick of ourselves. The days and nights seem so long.

The spring bulbs are on the move, but few are out yet.  Nevertheless, it is cheering to see there are definite signs that spring is on the way.

At the centre the craft ladies are busy making shopping bags to replace our plastic bags, which are so costly to the environment.

On Tuesday 8th June ladies from the Quilting Group paid us a visit to show us their work, which is a credit to them. Such talent!

June Dolbey has been helping at the Centre ever since it opened over 15 years ago and was recently thanked and congratulated by Board of Management President, Paul Griffin.

Our friends from radio Way FM, Ellena and Margaret, recently visited the centre to collect our requests for a radio programme coming up shortly.

He giveth more grace when the burdens grow greater
He sendeth more strength when labours increase,
To added affliction He addeth his mercy,

To multiplied trials, His multiplied peace.
