Letter to the Editor
Good News
Dear Editor,
I was recently privileged to be a part of the creation of Newstead College's Rock Eisteddfod Challenge entry, Heroes.

During the past three months, over 80 students,
teachers and support staff worked tirelessly, using every available moment to create dance sequences, sets and costumes.  The culmination of this was their
performance at the 2003 Schools Rock Eisteddfod
Challenge held at Wrest Point Casino on Tuesday July 15th.  As a result of all their talent, hard work and
determination, the performance Heroes was the overall winner and also took out 6 other major category award of the evening including costuming, choreography, set design and function, stage use, performance skill and
excellence of concept.

With this 'clean sweep' of the event all concerned
returned to Launceston at around d 3 am with the
adulation and praise from the judges and audience still ringing in their ears.

As a community we can be proud of the talents of four of our local girls being an integral part of this event.  Amazing performances and contributions were made by Rebecca Dixon, Jenna Rawnsley, Kristina Van Est and Olivia Viney.

A video of their performance will now be sent for
selection in the National Rock Eisteddfod titles later this year.  I am sure we wish them all well!

addressed.

Many may feel that the points made regarding discipline issues are isolated but if, as a parent, we consider the events to go unannounced but for our children 'gossiping' about something that happened at School we would realise that they are an all too common
occurrence (not only at Lilydale but in most schools).

The problems associated with the lack of discipline could be somewhat addressed with the resolving of the
Principals position.  It does not take a genius to work out that those students who come to the Principals
