The tiny
village of Lilydale lays nestled under Mount Arthur, one of the state's
highest peaks, in a lush valley 25 km North-East of Launceston, the second
largest city in Tasmania.
First settled in the 1860's the district abounds in both rural and natural
beauty. Primarily an agricultural area, Lilydale has internationally recognised
vineyards in its surrounding hills. It is also a popular area for the
production of pottery and craftwork. The Lilydale District Progress Association
Inc was established in 1968, became incorporated in 1997 and over the
past 33 years has been actively involved in promoting and developing our
village and its surrounding district. Helping to ensure the development
of the village proceeds with care and concern for the needs and wishes
of the local community.
